Why do many countries refuse to sell aircrafts to pakistan?

As of now Pakistan only has access to Chinese fighter jets.

  • Americans stopped the selling of F-16 -Wikipedia) recently. American may not sell any fighter jets to Pakistan in near future due to tension between both countries.
  • France has now stopped selling high end weapons to Pakistan. India has become a big Customer for French weapons and France has to keep it's largest Customer happy.
  • Sweden has decided not to sell Saab Gripen -Wikipedia) to Pakistan in 2004.
  • Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain are also not willing to sell Eurofighter Typhoon - Wikipedia) directly to Pakistan. There were some reports few years back that Pakistan can buy Typhoon indirectly via Turkey. But the deal didn't go through.
  • Russians have sold some helicopters to Pakistan and Pakistan has expressed interest in buying Su-35 -Wikipedia) also. There was a report in media that Russians are not willing to give advanced technologies like AESA radars to Pakistan along with the jet. But Russian Government has officially denied any intention to sell fighters to Pakistan. Russia - Pakistan relationship is improving day by day but India is still too large Customer for Russia to ignore India's concern.
Terrorism and high end weapons purchase can't go hand in hand. Unless Pakistan stops sponsoring terrorism in it's neighbourhood, it would be difficult for a western nation to sell advanced fighter to Pakistan. Also India is the largest importer of weapons and as a big Customer it enjoys considerable influence over Arms manufacturers.
